I go by Emily but you can call me Em. I'm 25 years old based from Massachusetts. I've been creating art since I can remember. As I grew older, drawing and painting became therapeutic and relaxing to me. Not many people know but I get anxiety at times. So creating art makes me feel relaxed and at ease with myself. It gives me comfort and I forget about everything and just focus on creating while getting lost in the process and finding myself in the end. I express my thoughts and feelings through drawing, painting vibrant, intricate, yet simple and delicate designs that inspire and motivate people to find their inner peace, passion & dreams. Mainly use watercolor paint and micron pens but I am always open to explore new mediums.
I believe the arts whether it's visual, musical, or performing plays a huge important role in movement for social & political change. I myself am a feminist who believes everyone should have equal rights. I am forever and eternally grateful for the all the women before me who fought for my rights. You can always tell who the strong women are. They're the ones you see building one another up instead of tearing each other down. We as women need to stick together, lift and encourage one another. May our voices be heard and lets continue to move forward and fight for equality. Nothing will ever change if we don't speak up and continue to talk about these ongoing issues.
"A huge part about being a feminist is giving other women the freedom to make choices you might not necessarily make yourself. - Lena Dunham
"Nevertheless, she persisted."
I'm a huge supporter of the LGBTQ community. I believe everyone should have the right to love who they want. I don't think I will fully understand how a human being can hate another human being for "being different" or loving a person because of their sexuality. Although we are living in the 21st century there are some people who are still close minded and can't come to conclusion that it is okay to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, pansexual. We need to educate our children and also adults about these ongoing issues just like women's rights. One day, I hope we can all love and accept people for who they are and love whoever their heart desires without the fear of hate or judgement. I am grateful that we have a platform where we can have a voice, be heard, and come together as one. I use my art to convey these types of messages; to help those in need and to not make them feel like they're alone and don't matter. Never say you are alone because you're not. There are people who relate to what you're going through and can help you out as well. YOU matter. You are whole. You are a fierce individual. Never forget that.
